BACKGAMMON – THE 2 PLAYER CASINO GAME
Backgammon is a 2 player game which is played on game board that contains 24 narrow triangles known as points. The triangles vary in color and are combines in form of 4 quadrants each containing 6 triangles. The quadrants are called as outer board and home board of the player and the opponent’s outer board and home board. Both these boards are split from each other with the help of a central ride known as the bar.
The points are given for the players which start from home board. The outermost target is 24 points, which is one point for opponent. The players have 15 checkers on their own colors. The checkers are arranged initially with 2 on every player’s 24 point, 4 on every player’s 13 point, 3 on every player’s 8 point and 5 on every player’s 6 point.
All the players will have their own dice pair as well as dice cup which could be used in order to shake. The double cube that has numbers 264,32,16,8,4 and 2 on its faces and it could be used for keeping track of their present stake in game. The objective of backgammon is to move all the players checkers to their own home board and then bear them away.
To start backgammon, every player will throw 1 die. This is used to determine both players to go first and the numerals that should be played. If every number comes with same number, then they should try repeatedly until they both get different numbers. The player who throws highest number can move his checkers as per the number shown in both dice. After this 1st roll, the players will throw 2 dices in every alternate turn.
The dice roll indicates the number of points the players can move their checkers. The checkers will move forward to a point with lower number. The rules applicable are,
- A checker shall be moved only to open points, which are filled by 2 or more opposite checkers.
- The dice numbers indicate separate moves. For instance, if any plays rolls 3 and 5, he shall move first checker 3 spaces towards open point and another checker 5 spaces to open point, or he shall move 1 checker 8 spaces to open point, but if and only if the intermittent point is also open.
- A player rolling doubles will play numbers shown on the dice 2 times. A roll of 5 and 5 means that player has 4 fives for using and he can move any pair of checkers for satisfying the requirement.
These are some rules for playing backgammon which is an interesting board games based on rolling dice.
